XHTML complaint form and refresh page

I am writing an XHTML complaint form, using the below doctype.

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">

All seems to be OK as far as UI/layout,and using some computed text/html fields are concerned, BUT

I need to refresh the page when user clicks on a link (an Anchor tag that will set a HTML hidden field, refresh the page forcing a Notes Computed field to recalculate), but this just doesnt happen.

Ie., I managed to get the page to submit but the Notes field never recomputed.

I tried ?Createdocument, ?Savedocument as the action property for the XHTML form tag, but to no avail.

So, Does Domino allow to refresh the form(to recompute notes field values) when it is XHTML complaint ? FYI, there is no save required in this page, just a refresh/re-compute. No, AJAX is not a choice for me.

Appreciate your inputs.
